Writing for Self-Care Workshop
"Taking care of ourselves is the opposite of being selfish, it strengthens us and enables us to support our loved ones better."
Tiny Buddha
Every day we heap unrealistic expectations and impossible burdens upon ourselves. Then, when we fail to live up to these standards, we hurt ourselves with criticism and judgement we wouldn't dream of passing on others. Imagine, for example, finding fault with a child the way we constantly find fault with ourselves?
You wouldn't.
It's time then to go back and re-connect with the child we once were, someone we will find it easy to care for. In doing this we will be caring for the adult we are now.
The first half of this class is an exploration of a recent memory. The second half uses poetry to inspire, as we seek to connect with and care for the child we once were.
You can expect to:
- Learn how to show yourself kindness.
- End the session feeling calmer.
- Go forward with a clearer idea of how to care for yourself in the future.
