Writing for Self-Care Workshop

"Taking care of ourselves is the opposite of being selfish, it strengthens us and enables us to support our loved ones better."
Tiny Buddha

Every day we heap unrealistic expectations and impossible burdens upon ourselves. Then, when we fail to live up to these  standards, we hurt ourselves with criticism and judgement we wouldn't dream of  passing on others. Imagine, for example, finding fault with a child the way we constantly find fault with ourselves?

You wouldn't.

It's  time then to go back and re-connect with the child we once were, someone we will find it easy to care for. In doing this we will be caring for the adult we are now.

The first half of this class is an exploration of a recent  memory.  The second half uses poetry to inspire,  as we seek to connect with and care for the child we once were.

You can expect to:

  • Learn  how to show yourself kindness.
  • End  the session feeling calmer.
  • Go forward with a clearer idea of how to care for yourself in the future.

'I found the session really therapeutic. My Dad recently died and I wasn’t expecting to think about him but he came up in my writing in a non-confrontational way. That’s therapeutic.'

'I found it really helpful … there was a firm timescale and I found that beneficial, what I was producing on the page was more guttural and authentic.'

Carrie,
UK

'My expectations were more than met – I’ve been thrilled with the sessions for different reasons. I loved the poetry the first time and I felt the second session was extremely therapeutic.'

Nicole,
Stockholm

"Aut dicta commodi nostrum quidem delectus molestiae ad et ex odit."

'Writing then, should be viewed as preventive maintenance.'

Meet Cary J Hansson

I am a best-selling, award winning author of contemporary fiction. My books succeed because I am able to make my characters lifelike, investing them with emotion that feels 100% real.

Fifteen years of practicing this has proven to me over and again how writing can draw emotion out of the head, and capture it on the page.

Furthermore,  crafted into specially designed and  guided exercises, the simple act of writing can transform into something deeper.

It can become the truly magical process of writing for wellness, a practice that offers calm, focus and creativity and will leave with a feeling of both  wellbeing and accomplishment.

All you need is a piece of paper and something to write with. What are you waiting for?

Start caring for yourself now.

This workshop has been carefully designed to help you prioritise your mental and emotional wellbeing, offering you practical techniques and a safe space to explore, reflect, and grow.
