Writing for Self-Care

So many of us, so often, feel overwhelmed by personal and professional responsibilities. Swept up in the relentless pace of modern life we struggle to find time  in which to remember yesterday, process today, or think with clarity and calm about tomorrow.

Writing for wellness is an antidote. It offers an instant pathway to a calmer, more focused way of thinking. Guided exercises organise and give structure so that, on the page, problems are put into perspective, and emotions and worries are made to feel manageable.

There comes a time when we can no longer ignore the effect our mental health is having upon our physical health, and that time can be right now.

Christmas shines a light on our wellbeing like no other time of year, and although we all know the importance of protecting our mental health, few of us manage to do so.

You can start a healthier habit today with this Writing for Self-Care exercise.  In just five minutes, you can be taught how to show yourself the kindness you deserve.

By the end of the session you will feel calmer and more balanced, with a clearer idea of how to care for yourself in the future.

This, in turn, you will leave you better equipped to deal with the all the challenges in your life, either personal or professional.

'Writing then, should be viewed as preventive maintenance.'

James W. Pennebaker, Opening up, by Writing it Down.

Meet Cary J Hansson

I am a best-selling, award winning author of contemporary fiction. My books succeed because I am able to make my characters lifelike, investing them with emotion that feels 100% real.

Fifteen years of practicing this has proven to me over and again how writing can draw emotion out of the head, and capture it on the page.

If it didn’t, you’d never read another book. Crafted into specially designed, guided exercises and the simple act of writing can transform into something more.

It can become the truly magical process of writing for wellness, a practice that will leave you with a feeling of calm, wellbeing and accomplishment.

"I found the session really therapeutic. My Dad recently died, and I wasn’t expecting to think about him but he came up in my writing in a non-confrontational way. That’s therapeutic."

"This was an insightful and at times emotional experience … Cary's instructions were clear, and her prompts were helpful but still leaving plenty of time to think and write - it felt like journalling with a friend."

Sara

"… what I was producing on the page was guttural and authentic"

"Aut dicta commodi nostrum quidem delectus molestiae ad et ex odit."

Important Considerations Before Enrolling:

Writing for wellbeing can be deeply transformative but may also present unique challenges. To ensure this course is suitable for you at this time, please carefully consider the following. If you are experiencing any of the situations below, we strongly recommend consulting with your doctor or therapist before signing up. This course may not be suitable for you right now if: You have recently experienced a major life crisis (e.g., a cancer diagnosis or bereavement): It’s generally recommended to wait at least six months before beginning mindfulness practices if you are in the immediate aftermath of such events. You are experiencing suicidal thoughts or episodes of psychosis. You are living with PTSD: We recommend seeking support through a live course with a trained teacher who has the expertise to guide you safely. You are dependent on drugs or alcohol. You are dealing with severe mental health challenges or vulnerabilities. At Writing for Wellbeing, your safety is our priority. If you have any concerns about whether this course is right for you, please reach out to us at caryjhansson@gmail.com or consult with your doctor or therapist for guidance.
